Internet Safety is Imperative today. Students are coming into school having been using a tablet since birth!!
Kathy Cassidy created a nice description of how to incorporate the use of the internet and technology into the early elementary classrooms and to begin to teach safety.

Tech to this Point:
I want to share a little about what I have learned so far.
I am old enough to have taken my first computer course in college where we were programming in BASIC and there was no internet yet!
I have of course as an adult and mother tackled like everyone else, the changing technology over the last twenty years.
I completed my B.S. degree almost exclusively online. I loved it. It forced me to learn to navigate the class pages and college website. I have learned to use Dropbox, discussion boards, upload and download files, messaging, real-time online class meetings, and even witnessed teachers holding sessions where we all interacted as she taught us Contemporary College math. It was so great, because she used the chat time, to go over problems on a white board like setting with us right in the session. We could ask questions and break things down just like in a real classroom. I thought it was very cool!
Within my lessons that I have created while at Granite State College, PBTC, I have learned to use many of the wonderful learning resources that are on the web to bring into the classroom. I created a google site to use in one of my classes that I have shared below. What a fantastic tool to use to create lessons that I can reference and use again. They all have embedded technology, are aligned with the Common Core and have the learning objectives, assessments, and differentiation in the notes on the site. I am definitely looking forward to doing more lessons this way!
